Catherine Breed’s Swim California Journey with Maritonia

Jun 30,2026 | Maritonia

Some Swimmers Do More Than Swim

Some swimmers race against the clock.

Some swim for health, for peace, for discipline, or for the quiet feeling of being fully present in the water.

And some swimmers choose a path that asks something much bigger from them.

Catherine Breed is one of those swimmers.

As a long-distance open-water swimmer, Catherine has spent years building the physical endurance, mental strength, and deep respect for the water that a challenge like Swim California requires. This is not the kind of journey someone begins overnight. It is built through countless hours of training, uncertainty, discipline, and courage.

This summer, Catherine is taking on an extraordinary open-water journey along the California coast. The challenge is expected to cover roughly 900 kilometers, with Catherine spending five to eight hours in the water each day over more than 100 days.

For most people, that is difficult to even imagine.

For Catherine, it is the next brave step in her relationship with open water.

And for Maritonia, it is an honor to be part of that journey.

Why This Journey Matters to Us

At Maritonia, we have always believed that clear vision in the water matters.

Not only because swimmers need to see where they are going, but because vision is connected to confidence, rhythm, safety, and trust.

In a swimming pool, foggy goggles are frustrating.

In open water, after hours of swimming, foggy goggles can become something much bigger. They can interrupt focus. They can make sighting harder. They can turn a difficult swim into an even more difficult one.

That is why Catherine’s Swim California journey means so much to us.

It is not a controlled studio test.
It is not a short marketing shoot.
It is not a few minutes of product footage.

It is real water.
Real sunlight.
Real fatigue.
Real distance.
Real uncertainty.

By supporting Catherine as her swim goggle sponsor, Maritonia is also choosing to place our product in front of a long, public, real-world challenge.

We are not only saying our goggles are built for long-lasting clarity.

We are putting that belief into the water.

Courage in the Water, Courage as a Brand

Catherine is brave because she is willing to be seen while doing something incredibly difficult.

Every day of Swim California will ask her to show up again. To enter the water again. To manage the conditions again. To keep moving along the coast when the journey is still far from finished.

In a different way, this is also a brave moment for Maritonia.

As a young swim goggle brand, we know we are still being discovered. Many swimmers have used goggles that fog too quickly, coatings that do not last, or lenses that look good at first but fail after repeated use. Because of that, it is natural for people to be skeptical when a brand says it has built something different.

We understand that.

That is why we believe real-world proof matters.

Catherine’s journey gives us something we value deeply: a chance to let our goggles be tested in front of real swimmers, in real open-water conditions, over time.

Not hidden.
Not staged.
Not protected from the environment.

Seen.

Why Goggles Matter in a Challenge Like This

In open water, goggles are not just accessories.

They are the swimmer’s window into the water.

A swimmer needs to read the light, understand the surface, stay aware of direction, and feel confident stroke after stroke. When the swim lasts for hours, every small discomfort becomes louder. Every bit of fog matters more. Every flash of glare from the water can affect how the swimmer feels and moves.

For a challenge like Swim California, goggles need to support:

  • Long-lasting anti-fog clarity
  • Reduced glare in bright outdoor conditions
  • Comfortable wear through repeated long sessions
  • Stable vision in changing open-water environments
  • Confidence when the swim lasts far beyond a normal training day

This is the kind of environment Maritonia was built for.

Maritonia’s Role in Swim California

Maritonia is proud to support Catherine Breed’s Swim California journey as her swim goggle sponsor.

Our role is simple but meaningful: to provide Catherine with goggles designed for clear vision in demanding open-water conditions.

For us, this partnership is not just about visibility for the brand. It is about sharing responsibility with a swimmer who is taking on something extraordinary.

Catherine is putting herself into the water day after day.

Maritonia is putting our long-lasting anti-fog and open-water vision technology into that same journey.

Together, this becomes more than a sponsorship.

It becomes a real test of courage, trust, and clarity.

The Meaning of SEEN

This story is also the beginning of SEEN.

SEEN is Maritonia’s space for real swimmers, real water, and real stories.

Because we believe every swimmer deserves to be seen.

Not only elite athletes.
Not only world-record holders.
Not only people with medals, sponsors, or cameras following them.

Every swimmer has a story.

The first open-water swim.
The race that felt impossible.
The morning training session no one else saw.
The fear that had to be overcome.
The injury, the comeback, the quiet breakthrough.
The moment when swimming changed how someone saw themselves.

Maritonia helps swimmers see more clearly in the water.

Through SEEN, we also hope to help more swimmers and their stories be seen by the world.

Catherine’s Swim California journey is one of those stories.

It is brave, demanding, and deeply connected to open water.

We are honored to support her, and we are grateful to have our goggles tested in a journey that so many people will witness.

Follow the Swim California Journey

We will continue sharing updates from Catherine’s Swim California journey, including open-water conditions, training insights, equipment notes, and the role Maritonia goggles play along the way.

This is not a short test.

It is a long journey through real water, real conditions, and real endurance.

And we are proud to support Catherine with clear vision for the miles ahead.
